Student Org Checklist

Creating Your Student Organization

Follow the steps below to create a new student organization:

  1. Log into Cowbell Connect by going to msstate.campuslabs.com/engage/register.
  2. Log in with your netID and password, and then locate the three lines in the upper left corner, then click the “Organizations” option. This will bring you to the directory of organizations that are registered in your community.
  3. Next, click the “Register New Organization” button. Click the blue "Register a New Organization” button and choose student organization.
  4. Now you will fill out some basic organization information, as well as upload your constitution and a roster.
  5. After completing this online process, you will be notified when your advisor and the Center for Student Activities approves, denies, or re-opens your request. You can also view the status of your request under your personal “Requests” page.

New Organizations will be considered by the New Student Organizations Committee. The committee typically meets the fourth week of each month during the academic year. You will be notified of whether you’ve been approved by email.

A new organization is required to have:

  1. 6 members on the roster
  2. You must have an advisor who is Faculty/Staff at Mississippi State University
  3. You must have a constitution (Student Organization Sample Constitution)
  4. Each organization must have officers/executive board

Re-registering Your Student Organization

Each organization is required to re-register their organization each academic year. Re-registration must be completed by August 31, 2026. Re-registration will open June 1, 2026. You must be listed as an officer to re-register your organization.

  1. Scroll down to "My Organizations" and click on the organization you are trying to re-register. 
  2. Click "Manage Organization" in the top right corner.
  3. Click "Re-Register This Organization".

This is a great time to update your roster and constitution. Once you complete re-registration you will need to attend a mandatory student leader training on August 20, 2026. You can attend one of three sessions at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. in the Colvard Student Union Foster Ballroom U. One officer from each organization is required to attend.
